Conor Benn's Next Fight: Targeting Ryan Garcia or Mario Barrios for World Title Shot! (2026)

Conor Benn is aiming for the ultimate prize: the biggest fight in boxing! After a triumphant comeback, the stage is set for Benn to chase a welterweight world title in 2026. Let's dive into the details of his ambitious plan.

Following his victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in the latter half of 2025, 'The Destroyer' is now setting his sights on securing a world title. This could happen as early as his next bout. The details of his targeted opponent and the potential date have been revealed, promising an exciting year ahead.

Benn's journey hasn't been without its hurdles. He faced his first career defeat against Eubank Jr. in April. But, in a stunning display of skill and determination, Benn bounced back just seven months later, evening the score and solidifying his status as a leading figure in British boxing.

But here's where it gets interesting... Despite the draw with Eubank, Benn seems less interested in a trilogy fight. Instead, he's focusing on his natural weight division of 147lbs to compete for world honors.

Initially, a clash with WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios was on the cards. However, Barrios has reportedly signed to fight Ryan Garcia – another name that's been frequently mentioned in connection with Benn.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking to Matchroom Boxing, revealed Benn's strategy: to face the winner of the Barrios-Garcia fight. However, they're only willing to wait if a title shot against the victor is guaranteed.

"Ryan Garcia against Conor Benn – arguably the biggest fight in boxing," Hearn stated. He envisions a massive event, potentially drawing 15,000 fans to Las Vegas, with Benn capable of selling out a stadium against Garcia. Hearn is optimistic about Garcia's chances, stating, "Ryan is a huge name, but he has got to beat Barrios first and I believe that he will."

In terms of timing, Hearn hopes to schedule Benn's WBC title shot by May or June at the latest. However, he also mentioned that Benn will fight sooner if a title opportunity isn't secured. "I’m not having him sitting around waiting," Hearn explained. Benn is already back in training and in excellent shape. The goal is to fight by May/June at the latest, or even earlier if the Garcia fight doesn't materialize.

The Barrios-Garcia fight is set for Saturday, February 21, potentially at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, though official details are still pending. Garcia's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has announced that an official announcement is imminent.
